Charles Travis Ph.D UCLA. He works in core areas of epistemology and metaphysics, and has published in the philosophy of language. His most recent book is Unshadowed Thought (Harvard, 2001). He also wrote The uses of sense: Wittgenstein's philosophy of language (Oxford: Clarendon, 1989). He is currently working on problems about the relation of logic to thought, and the relation of thought to experience, and to the world. He is working on a book with the title Mental Equipment, concerning the role of logic in thought and, more generally, the role of our psychologies in shaping our experience.
