Mohammed Safi

Graduate Student

Mohammed is a first-year doctoral student focusing on all things epistemic. In 2023, he completed a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies at Ibn Haldun University in Istanbul, Turkey. During that period, his research focused on traditional Islamic epistemology, especially on the critical method of ḥadīth scholars. His doctoral research eventually led him to Northwestern, where he served as a predoctoral fellow from 2021-2023. During that fellowship, his interests continued to deepen and expand and eventually propelled him to pursue a second Ph.D.in philosophy. Mohammed’s research program focuses on synthesizing between traditional Islamic epistemology and contemporary anglophone epistemology.
